Our beautiful Are Yudachi Ni tenugui is a Zusetsu limited availability tenugui art print direct from Kyoto.

This beautiful tenugui features the artwork Sudden Shower (Are Yudachi Ni) by Seiho Takeuchi, 1909. The art was originally painted on silk.

Seiho Takeuchi was a leading member of Kyoto art circles and a pioneer of modern Japanese painting, having studied at the Kyoto School of Painting.

The tenugui are made using old-fashioned looms in Japan. High quality threads are carefully woven with a little fluff for a long period of time. This creates a woven fabric that is finely textured and smooth to the touch.

These beautiful quality tenugui are mainly dyed with Yuzen dyeing, one of Kyoto's traditional dyeing techniques. Each colour has its own printing frame, and is printed layer by layer. This technique creates rich and vivid colour, and makes the beautiful design a truly lovely piece of wall art for your office or home.
