Kyoto Washi Paper Pack

Our beautiful washi paper packs come from an enchanting machiya store called Suzuki Shofudo, which is located in one of the old back lanes of Kyoto.

Suzuki Shofudo was established in Kyoto in 1893 as a manufacturer of traditional paper items. Kyoto is renowned for its beautiful kimono, and the kimono patterns are the inspiration for the paper patterns, which are dyed using a very traditional starch-resist technique. Repeated dyeing creates the beautiful rich colours!

This gorgeous set of quality washi paper comprises 10 sheets, each with a different pattern. Please note that the the papers are selected at random from a larger range, and that the photo is a sample of the papers only. Each sheet has the pattern on one side only.

Made from a traditional Japanese deep-dye paper technique, this beautiful set is ideal for origami and collage art work.

Each sheet is 10cm x 10cm, and is wrapped in a beautiful white washi butterfly fold paper, (which measures just under 11cm square) and sealed with an attractive paper sleeve. (The sleeve may be red, pale blue, spring green, lilac, or amber).
